Prem graduated from La Trobe University (Melbourne, Victoria) in 1989 and has been a practicing clinician for the last 30 years. He has extensive experience in both prosthetics and orthotics, having worked in both fields. Prem loves what he does and his aim for Launceston Orthotic & Prosthetic Service is to provide a functional outcome for his clients. He says that his clients are his greatest teachers.

Rachel Oakes

Clinical Prosthetist/Orthotist

B.App.Sci, M.Clin.Pros.&Orth.

Rachel completed a Bachelor of Applied Science and Master of Clinical Prosthetics and Orthotics at La Trobe University in 2019. After graduating, she moved to Sydney to work for a not-for-profit company, focusing on paediatric orthotics, particularly for the lower limb.

Rachel moved to Tasmania and joined the team at LOPS in 2022, having previously completed a placement at LOPS during her time as a student. She particularly enjoys paediatric orthotics as well as incorporating advancing technologies into her work for better clinical outcomes. She values a collaborative approach to achieve the best outcomes for her clients.


In her spare time, Rachel enjoys a good cup of coffee and a good book.
